Protecting animals

Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds visit Bangladesh every year and they mostly stay here during the winter which is actually much warmer than from where they come. These birds fly thousands of miles from Siberia in Russia, China and also from Australia, according to researchers. Their arrival in Bangladesh proves that this delta is still a suitable place for them to make a sojourn.
We see some of these birds, especially the ones belonging to the variety of duck, on the Jahangirnagar University campus. More birds actually take shelter in Tanguarhaor (lake) and other major water bodies of Sylhet region. Unfortunately, we've not been able to show kindness to birds and animals although the recent decadeshave seen some improvements in this regard. The World Migratory Birds Day - observed twice on second Saturdays of May and October - should be utilised in strengthening the campaign for protecting not only migratory birds but all animals
