Protesters prove that traffic can be managed properly

The school and college-going protesters need to be thanked for showing the rest of the country that discipline can be brought to the city roads. Unfortunately, this was something that the traffic police and law enforcers had failed to achieve in the past few decades. FromAugust 02, the protesting students have been checking the licenses of all drivers and official documents of all vehicles. They stopped vehicles of even ministers and MPs. The protesters even blocked the vehicles of Very Important Persons (VIP) for using the wrong lane. It was shameful to see that drivers of such senior government officials did not have proper documents on them.

Bangladeshis on the social media platforms, mostly facebook and twitter, were relentless at displaying photos, videos and other posts documenting the unofficial drive by the protesters. Common people support the movement to ensure road safety.

Some senior police officials have said that the protesters have opened their eyes. The government needs to take proper decisions regarding the issue now. I salute the students, involved with the protests, for giving us a glimpse of hope.
