Respect for street hawkers
September 14, 2020 00:00:00
Despite changes in urban culture over the years, hawkers remain a familiar face for residents of respective localities. Once they used to sell clothes, utensils, cosmetics and other attractive things for the middle class people. These days, they sell different kinds of essential items such as fish, vegetables, fruits, foods, and clothes on the streets. Some of them visit residential areas.
These people always do not receive good treatment from society, especially its influential part. People always do not remember how much valuable supports they are giving to the lives of the middle class. During the pandemic, it's they who are reaching the essential commodities at the doorstep of the consumers as a whole. They deserve more respect and support from the state. Their business should also be made formal by giving them licences to do business so that none can extort them.
