Road below Kanchpur Bridge

ADAMJEE Export Processing Zone is an attractive place for foreign and local investors as there are many factories in the area. But the road below the Kanchpur Bridge on way to Narayanganj has been in a pitiable shape for the last five years. This road leads to the Adamjee Export Processing Zone and every day many foreign and local investors negotiate this road for different business purposes. It looks like there is no one to look after maintenance of the road although it is an important road and every year goods worth millions of dollars are exported on this road. The EPZ otherwise has good road structure, but the extremely dilapidated road linking Dhaka to Chittagong is an eyesore.

A few days ago, I was going to the Adamajee EPZ with a foreign buyer and I was really in an awkward situation as the foreign visitor was asking about the wretched condition of the road. I really wonder how such an important road remains so neglected for years together. As is well known, Narayanganj plays an important role in our national economy. But it is painful that people on way to Narayanganj have to come across a place like that everyday that speaks eloquently about the state of negligence of the authorities. As the government has been trying to attract foreign investors to invest in the country, poor road condition like this may dampen the spirit of the investors. I urge upon the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to repair the road and ensure its maintenance in future.
