Sad partnership business

Once the body of a buying house owner was recovered from the city's Banani Rail line area on October 03, the story of his business conflict with partners came to the media. Atiqur Rahman's three other business partners of the Mirpur-based firm, were reportedly not sharing profit with him for the past six months. Hours before his body was found, Atiqur called his wife to seek her forgiveness and switched off the phone.

Unfortunately, doing business in partnership is challenging in our country. There is a saying that five people start a business, and within next five years, each of them opens a new business leaving the original one. One should be careful in choosing partners before starting a major business. Even friends should make transparent and legal deals before starting a joint venture. If all arrangements are made as per official regulations, it would not be easy for anyone to cheat with others. At the same time, we as a nation should try to develop a partnership culture. Business associations and regulators may think of undertaking a programme to train the youth about skills and attitude for doing business together.
