SELIMA AHMAD is the founder president of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI).  She is a successful business woman and has long-standing experience in the private sector. Selima Ahmad won the prestigious Oslo Peace Award 2014 for her socially responsible and ethical business practices. She is committed to a noble mission of doing something for the women entrepreneurs of the country. She took the initiative to form a separate Chamber of Commerce for women, devoted exclusively to the task of facilitating the advancement of women entrepreneurs. Her business integrity, commitment and contribution to society are a matter of pride and joy for all women of Bangladesh. Selima Ahmad has been working relentlessly for the last 28 years for the development of the private sector and has been actively involved in developing more than 7,000 women entrepreneurs. Till today BWCCI developed by Selima Ahmad has supported 3000 women entrepreneurs across the country and more importantly most of these entrepreneurs belong to grassroots levels. Selima Ahmad has been pursuing her demand with the government to allocate separate funds in our national budget that can be extended as loan for our women entrepreneurs at a lower rate of interest. She is one of the most successful women business leaders in Bangladesh. She received an award for women's contribution to development by the Islamic Development Bank in 2012.
