Separate lane for public bus

August 13, 2022 00:00:00

In many countries in the world, subway and light trains are more popular than private vehicles since they move quickly. Why is so? It is simply because they run on dedicated tracks and do not mix with other vehicles. But if we give public buses a fair shot by giving them a dedicated lane, they may be able to become more efficient. Although not every street is fit for a dedicated bus lane, some wide roads can be fit for a dedicated bus lane, which can double transport efficiency on these roads by eliminating delays caused by traffic congestions.

City residents, who use motorbikes and cars, should learn that they will not be stuck in traffic if they use buses. The government needs to come up with a public transport system with air-conditioned buses so that those who use motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars can commute at affordable costs. This will keep most personal vehicles off the road and prevent everyday traffic jams. The people of Dhaka city are frustrated because it takes them long hours to commute between home and workplace. I personally hate being stuck in traffic every day and it is a major inconvenience for as a lot of my time is wasted on travelling. This way fewer vehicles will be on roads and this will ease the traffic congestion in the city. The authorities concerned can think about this solution to traffic congestion in big cities like Dhaka.
