Significance of libraries for academic and research support

A library is an organized source of information and knowledge made accessible to a defined community for reference or borrowing. A library's collection can include books, periodicals, newspapers, manuscripts, films, documents, videotapes, DVDs, discs, e-books, databases and other formats. A library is also a mirror of civilization and holds the tradition and culture of a nation. Most of the prominent institutions are rated on the basis of various factors and library is one of them. Academic and research library add value to meet the goals of the parent organization. Some of the academic libraries in Bangladesh are focused on research activities besides fulfilling their academic demand. Special libraries in Bangladesh are trying to collaborate with different communities and collaborate with them in different aspects. We have to remember that library is not confined to traditional services only. The library professionals provide the most updated and accurate services with emerging technology. We should realize the significance of library and library professionals so that they library are inspired to work harder and work properly to meet the goals of the institution they work for.
