Stop deception in the name of offers
March 17, 2025 00:00:00
Deceptive marketing tactics disguised as special offers have become a widespread problem. During festivals, special occasions, or online sales, consumers are lured by flashy discounts and enticing deals such as "Buy One, Get One Free" or "Huge Discount." However, in many cases, these offers are misleading. Prices are often inflated beforehand to create the illusion of a discount, while substandard or even expired products are sold under these so-called promotions.
The most affected by this deceptive practice are low-income consumers. Struggling to make ends meet, they are drawn to these apparent bargains in the hope of securing essential goods at a lower price, only to suffer financial losses instead.
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, law enforcement agencies, and relevant authorities must take immediate action to curb these fraudulent practices and ensure transparency in the marketplace. Strict monitoring and enforcement of consumer rights laws are essential to protect buyers from such exploitation.
