Swimming: A full body exercise

Swimming is an easy and fun exercise for those who want to stay fit and healthy. It can be effective for people with busy schedules as they would be required to spend only two hours a week.

Health experts recommend swimming as it can help regulate heart rates while not putting too much stress on the body. Swimming also builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. It can help maintain a healthy weight, heart and lungs.

In Dhaka city, there is a scarcity of water bodies where one can enjoy swimming. There are a few swimming pools owned by private health clubs and hotels. But most of these are very expensive.

There are some public swimming pools. But people do not go there as these are not cleaned regularly.

As swimming is a great workout for everyone including children, the government can take steps to create awareness about swimming and its benefits. It can also open new swimming pools and refurbish existing ones. Such steps can attract plenty of people from fixed-income households towards the public facilities.
