Taking advantage of people's greed

It was reported in a Bengali contemporary on March 16, 2019 that a group of unscrupulous people are selling bundles of Saudi Riyals to people of the city at a very cheap rate. These bundles used to have some Riyals at the top and near the end, but the notes in the middle of the bundles were mostly white paper. In such a way, this group was deceiving unsuspecting people.

The group usually targets passengers in luxurious cars. Their victims also include senior citizens living in residential buildings where they have easy access since members of this group are also involved in the profession of wall painting. This criminal group was also active at the Ashkona hajj camp near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Pilgrims coming from across the country, with an aim to go for hajj, were easier targets for these frauds.

As soon as the notes are sold to a victim, the people used to flee from the scene after saying, "Police are coming. We might get into trouble." Later the buyers often realised their mistakes after opening the bundles.

Recently, seven members from the group have been arrested by the police.

This group is taking advantage of people's greed. We need to be free from greed and be content and thankful with what we have.
