Thai cave incident: A prayer for safe return

July 10, 2018 00:00:00

On June 23, a group of 12 boys, aged between 11 and 17 years, from a local junior football team and their 25-year-old coach, went missing after setting out to explore the Tham Luang cave. The four kilometres long cave that includes twisting, extremely narrow and jagged passageways filled with water. The group was apparently stranded in the dark tunnels by a sudden and continuous downpour after they entered the cave. A ranger of the Department of National Parks alerted authorities about the missing group after seeing their unclaimed belongings at the cave entrance. It is good to know that four of the boys have been rescued already and further rescue operations are going on. Volunteers, teams and technical assistance from multiple countries are participating in the operation. A former Thai Navy Officer died of asphyxiation while delivering supplies to the cave on July 6. We hope that the boys will be rescued soon. The world should always come forward like this whenever they see the sufferings of fellow human beings.
