The season of events and entertainment

Winter season is loved by most people in Bangladesh as during this season the temperatures are low. This is also the time for vacation as professionals can get year-end holidays. Also, children and teenagers get nearly a month's vacation after their examinations.

Winter is the season for entertainment and events in Bangladesh. The season sees the largest fairs in rural and urban areas. Over the last few years, some mega musical events have been organised regularly in Dhaka during this season. In professional and personal groups, people tend to go on picnics during this season. A large number of marriage ceremonies and related events are held during this season.

Most nature-lovers take holidays from their professional lives to go to some scenic spots in Bandarban, Sylhet and others. The best items are probably in nature across the country during this season. A lot of flowers like Sunflower, Dahlia, Rose, Shimul, Palash and others bloom around early mornings of this season. Besides looking beautiful, the flowers emanate fragrances that can turn most people into nature-lovers. Fruits with unique tastes like jujube, oranges, pomelo, hog-plums and others become available during this season.

This is a good time to visit the villages, especially for the pithas (cakes). Sweet date-juice is also available during this season in the villages.

In the cities, many small Pitha (cake) shops can be found on the streets during this season.

I would like to urge the city dwellers to take some time off from work and visit the villages or some tourist spots with their families to experience winter in all its glory.
