Tight security on New Year eve

IT was nice to see that the law enforcing agencies took all-out measures to prevent any unwanted incidents taking place in our Dhaka city on the eve of the New Year. Every one celebrated the New Year happily without any involvement of unruly and rowdy elements. No unauthorized entry was  allowed after 8 pm in Gulshan area and after 6 pm in Dhaka university area. Additional police force was deployed in the city to ensure the safety and security of citizens. Anarchy and lawlessness in the name of celebration could not take place and everything was peaceful. In the last few years, we saw peaceful New Year celebration in Dhaka city amidst tight security arrangement of the law enforcing agencies. Prior to that, we witnessed drunken young men on the streets and rowdy young people damaging cars of the people on the New Year's night. We also saw drink driving and pedestrian killing. We have not forgotten the TSC Badhon incident during the New Year celebration and since then the law enforcers were extremely cautious and enforced strict security all over the city. I hope this year onwards there will be peace and security in the city to enable the citizens to welcome the New Year without any unwanted incident.
