Traffic congestion in front of JnU main gate

March 02, 2025 00:00:00

The traffic congestion in front of the main gate of Jagannath University (JnU) has now become a an ordeal. The road in front of the main gate has practically turned into a temporary stand for buses and rickshaws. Particularly, buses of various companies like Azmeri Glory, Bihanga, and Victor Classic, which operate on routes to Gazipur and Gulistan, pick up and drop off passengers here. As a result, the road in front of the main gate remains perpetually jammed, bringing traffic to a standstill.

Rickshaws also park haphazardly, contributing significantly to the congestion. Moreover, the chaotic situation disrupts pedestrians'mivement causing difficulties for students. The reckless speed and disorderly movement of rickshaws often lead to accidents, leaving students injured. This situation poses a serious safety risk, making it extremely difficult for students to cross the road.

Beyond traffic congestion, the relentless honking of vehicles and overall noise pollution in front of the university make it difficult for students to concentrate in classrooms. The harsh honking, shouting, and continuous noise completely disrupt the normal academic environment, forcing students to study in an unbearable atmosphere. To maintain a conducive learning environment, an immediate solution to this problem is essential.

In light of this, we urge the university authorities and relevant administration to take effective measures to remove the unauthorized bus and rickshaw stands in front of the main gate. A traffic-free, safe, and student-friendly campus should be ensured so that students can study in a secure and peaceful environment.
