VAT on computer products

I thank the government for withdrawing VAT on the private university tuition fees, as it will help advance the cause of higher studies and encourage young people to pursue higher education with more vigour and zeal. I shall also request the government to withdraw 4 per cent VAT on computer products as the matter is directly related with education. Students constitute the majority of computer buyers and putting VAT on it will put them to disadvantage and make their life difficult. In stead of putting a VAT, the government should think of gradually waiving other taxes off computer and related products to facilitate world class education in the country at a reasonable cost. The government should make sure that education and its related services and products are cheap and within the reach of the common people. Human resource is the most valuable resource of our country and if we can utilise it to our own advantage, the country will develop rapidly and achieve economic emancipation of the people. Instead of imposing VAT on tuition fees of private university students and computer products, the government should take steps to make them affordable and allow everyone to be benefited from the gift of science.
