Waterlogging in Noakhali
September 26, 2024 00:00:00
Recently, different areas of Noakhali, Feni, and Lakshmipur were inundated due to flooding caused by water from India. The crops, livestock and other sources of livelihood in these areas have suffered severe damage, and the effect is still felt in some parts of Noakhali. Both sides of the Feni-Noakhali main road are flooded, particularly from Jamidarhat in Noakhali to Chowmuhani. Water-logging continues to affect homes, mosques, temples, madrasas, schools, and colleges and local residents.
Additionally, water levels from Mannan Nagar in Noakhali to a large area in the south have risen due to heavy rains, yet no significant government action has been taken for drainage. It is crucial that the water is drained promptly from these areas. We urge the government to take appropriate action in this matter as soon as possible.
