Producing business grads the right way

Benjir Abrar | September 25, 2021 00:00:00

Business education is becoming more and more popular day by day due to the requirement and acceptability of business graduates in all types of organisations across the world. The well-blended curricula designed by modern business schools have increasingly inspired students to choose both BBA and MBA as their preferred programmes for achieving career goals. In fact, business graduates are successfully achieving diverse goals in organisations, either national or international. Their proven track records have motivated recruiters to hire business graduates at ever increasing rate.

Either becoming an entrepreneur or working as an executive in an organization, among others, is the two main career paths where business graduates can significantly contribute to the overall development of the country. However, the main goal of the students in this field is to work with specialised institutions after finishing their studies.

Most of the fresh graduates do not have any work experience as opportunities to work on a part time basis for students are very limited in Bangladesh. Some renowned employers in our country, however, prefer their recruits to have some minimum level of work experience. As a result, the fresh graduates who do not have any work experience become frustrated. In order to overcome this barrier, there are some hands-on initiatives, such as engaging students in a range of various cocurricular and extracurricular activities. These include more practical assignments, homework and arranging industrial tours. The aim should be to produce skilled and qualified human resources for ensuring sustainable development of the country. The curriculum should be designed in a way that it goes beyond the traditional concept of the country. The recruitment of highly skilled and qualified faculty members, combined with modern teaching methods can enhance the capacity in providing best quality education in the prospective of students. Apart from this, various institutional activities including research activities involving both teachers and students can help engage students. Collaboration with reputed universities at home and abroad and maintaining good relations with various domestic and foreign organizations will provide an added advantage.

Adequate physical facilities are required to ensure quality education for the students. These include smart classrooms equipped with multimedia projectors and proper sound systems, language labs, Wi-Fi connectivity, digital and on-campus libraries rich with textbooks, reference books, journals, articles, and periodicals. In short, the students need an ambience that gives them the best learning experience.
