At least ten people have been injured as the students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College clashed with each other and police at the capital's Science Lab.
Four police members and at least six students of both institutions were injured in the clash that broke out around 11:30 AM on Thursday, according to police.
With sticks in their hands, students from both colleges took to the streets. At first, they hurled bricks and stones and chased one another which followed sporadic confrontations.
Police said both groups also attacked law enforcers during the clashes.
Police members were seen using batons at the scene.
As of 2:00 PM, the two groups had retreated to opposite sides of the main road, while police remained deployed at the location.
DMP's Dhanmondi Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Jisanul Haque said around 2:00 PM traffic had been suspended for some time due to the clash, but later resumed.
DMP's Dhanmondi Division Senior Assistant Commissioner Mostafa Tariquzzaman said the clash was an outcome of an altercation last Sunday, which revolved around a football match between the two colleges at a coaching centre.
