117 more die, Covid positivity rate at 12.78pc

The daily death toll from Covid-19 increased to 117, while the new virus caseloads maintained a downward trend in Bangladesh on Friday.

On Thursday, the fatalities from coronavirus were recorded at 102 across the country, according to the official figures.

On the other hand, the daily Covid-19 cases declined further to 3,525 during the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Friday against the previous day's 4,698, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data revealed.

With the latest daily counts, total death toll from coronavirus reached 25,846 since the virus was first detected in Bangladesh in March 2020.

A total of 27,578 samples were tested, including antigen-based rapid tests,

while 27,294 samples were collected across the country during the last 24 hours.

The virus test positivity rate inched down further to 12.78 per cent on the day from the previous day's 13.77 per cent.

Besides, 6,485 more people recovered from the Covid-19 infection during the last 24-hour reporting time. The rate of recovery from the coronavirus disease was reported at 93.29 per cent on the day.

On the other hand, the rate of fatalities from Covid-19 remained static at 1.74 per cent.

According to the DGHS data, the total Covid-19 caseloads crossed 1.48 million in the country so far, and more than 1.40 million of them recovered.
