The Covid-19 infection rate in the country has been registering an uptrend again for the last couple of days with the authorities detecting 1,683 new cases on Monday.
The rate of Covid-19 infection increased to 11.99 per cent on the day, while it was 11.55 per cent and 11.19 per cent on Sunday and Saturday respectively, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
On the other hand, the number of fatalities from Covid-19 also increased considerably to reach 25 on Monday compared to 18 on the previous day.
Of the deceased, 17 were male and eight were female, according to the DGHS.
A total of 14,042 samples were tested, while 14,005 samples were collected across the country during the last 24-hour until Monday morning.
With Monday's figures, the number of people, who died of coronavirus, reached 6,092 since the virus was first detected in Bangladesh in March.
The rate of fatalities from the disease remained almost static at 1.44 per cent, and the rate of recovery from the disease was recorded at 80.53 per cent, the DGHS press release mentioned.
A total of 1,623 people recovered from Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, it mentioned.
According to the official data, a total of 4,21,921 people have, so far, been infected with Covid-19, and 3,39,768 of them recovered from the deadly disease.
