The government has made A-Challan (automated challan) mandatory for depositing all public revenues and other government receipts from July 1 (today), the first day of the fiscal year (2026-27).
To this effect, the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance issued a notification on Tuesday.
It also asked all the ministries, divisions, and departments to cancel any system other than A-Challan in the process of receiving or making payment of revenue or any other types of earnings.
The measure aims to ensure clarity of public money and lowering expenditure relating to the loan interest, it added.
According to the notification, the government has introduced the A-Challan system back in fiscal year 2018-19 in case of depositing revenue and other earnings to strengthen the government's cash flow system and ensuring depositing of public money in real time.
