At least 10 people, including two children, were killed and five others injured in a road accident on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Lohagara upazila's Chunti Jangalia of Chattogram on Wednesday morning.
A mishap in the same spot on Monday left five more dead.
In addition to these accidents, at least 13 other people were killed in road accidents across the country in the last three days.
The accident in Lohagara occurred when a bus collided with a microbus on the highway around 7:30 am on Wednesday.
The Highway Police, Fire Service, and Civil Defence provided details of the accident that took place on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway in the Upazila's Chunti Jangalia area on Wednesday.
This crash marks the third serious accident in the Jangalia area in three days. On Monday, five people were killed in an accident that occurred on Eid day. Additionally, on Tuesday, two microbuses veered off the road and overturned into a ditch, injuring 12 people.
Of the victims, five of the deceased were identified as Md Zahed, Rifat, Nazim, Jihan Hossain Opu, and Siddique. They hailed from Lohagara upazila in Chattogram.
A report from bdnews24.com adds, after passing a bend in the road, the driver hit the brakes. The vehicle swerved and slammed into an incoming microbus. Within seconds, another microbus crashed into the damaged microbus from behind.
As many as 10 people from the microbus have died after the vehicle collided head-on with a Relax Paribahan bus. Seven people died on the spot, according to Shuvoranjan Chakma, chief of Dohazari Highway Police Station.
Four more people injured in the accident were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where a child between 10-12 years of age and a man between 30-35 years of age later died, confirmed Dr Susmita Saha of the hospital's emergency department.
A child and a young woman injured in the accident are still receiving treatment at the hospital, she said.
A man died at the Lohagara Health Complex in Padua, according to Atiqur Rahman, chief of Lohagara Police Station.
Police identified five of the 10 deceased in the crash, four of them from the same family.
Dohazari Highway Police Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Matin said, "Today's accident occurred 30-35 yards away from Monday's accident scene."
Meanwhile, a road crash involving three motorcycles has left four youths dead and injured two others in Madaripur's Shibchar Upazila.
The accident occurred at Kutubpur Shahebbazar near the Shibchar-Zajira border around 2pm on Tuesday, Shibchar police chief Ratan Sheikh said.
Mithu Talukder from Kutubpur Shahebbazar and Hridoy Dhali from Shariatpur's Zajira were among the dead.
According to accounts by police, bystanders and locals, two of the motorcycles driving at reckless speeds collided head-on, killing two on the spot. Two others who were critically injured in the crash died on their way to the hospital.
In the capital, a pedestrian has been fatally struck by a bus in Dhaka's Kamalapur area.
The deceased, Ruhul Amin, 55, a security guard at Kadamtola Purbo Bashabo School & College in Sabujbagh, was hit near the BRTC bus counter number 6 around 1pm on Tuesday, according to Mezbah Uddin, the chief of Motijheel Police Station.
In Cumilla, three people died and at least 25 others were injured as a passenger bus crashed into an electric pole and a tree in Chandina upazila of Cumilla on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Tuesday evening.
Baharul Islam, station master of Chandina Fire Service, said that a 'Tisha Plus' passenger bus was traveling from Dhaka to Cumilla.
The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole and a tree, leaving one dead and 27 others injured.
In Naogaon, a 17-year-old boy was killed and two of his friends were injured in a motorcycle accident in the district's Sapahar Upazila on Monday.
The deceased was Shahin Alam, son of Mohammad Ibrahim of Pashchim Harirampur village at Porsha Upazila in the district.
In Gazipur, two people died and two others injured after a bus hit a CNG-run autorickshaw in Gazipur on Monday.
The accident happened around 10 am in the Shibbari area of Gazipur city. In Bogura, three people including father and daughter were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in the district Monday.
The deceased were Shariful Islam (32) and his minor daughter Sejda (3) and Alok Sarker (20) of Sherpur Upazila of the district.
