BD logs seven more Covid deaths

Bangladesh reported seven more deaths from Covid-19 and 253 new virus cases during the last 24 hours until 8:0am on Friday.

With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 27,946 since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 18,124 samples were tested, including antigen tests, during the last 24-hour reporting time while 18,028 samples were collected during the period.

However, the Covid-19 test positivity rate was recorded at 1.40 per cent on the day, which was slightly up from the previous day's 1.25 per cent, the DGHS data revealed.

On the other hand, a total of 298 people recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time, said the DGHS in its press release. The rate of recovery was 97.72 per cent on the day, it added.

On the other hand, the rate of fatalities from coronavirus disease remained static at 1.78 per cent.

According to the official data, the total Covid-19 cases exceeded 1.57 million in Bangladesh on Sunday and over 1.537 million of them had recovered from the deadly disease.

Meanwhile, nearly 10.69 million samples were tested since March last year.
