BD sees 30 more deaths

1,499 test positive for virus in 24 hours

Some 1,499 more people tested Covid-19 positive in the last 24 hours ending on Tuesday noon, according to the state-run Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the latest infections, the overall coronavirus-related caseload increased to 3,71,631, and the attack rate now stands at 18.45 per cent.

The number of fatalities is rising again, as 30 more patients succumbed due to the respiratory disease caused by the deadly virus.

The death toll rose to 5,405, and the fatality rate was 1.45 per cent until October 6.

On the other hand, a downward trend in the number of active cases is observed here because of gradual increase in the figure of recovery and falling infection rate.

The DGHS, on Tuesday's daily health bulletin on coronavirus, said a total of 12,345 samples were tested across the country since Monday noon.

Of the tests, some 1,499 samples were found Covid-19 positive along with 30 more deaths recorded during the 24-hour period, it mentioned.

"With these numbers, the overall tally of confirmed cases and deaths rose to 3,71,631 and 5,405 respectively," as per the bulletin, signed by DGHS additional director general Dr Nasima Sultana.

Of the total deaths, 2,729 were recorded in Dhaka division, followed by Chattogram (1,096), Khulna (442), Rajshahi (355), Rangpur (246), Sylhet (234), Barishal (191), and Mymensingh (112).
