Candidates of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), contesting with the "sheaf of paddy" symbol, secured 49.97 per cent of the votes in the 13th national parliamentary election, followed by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidates with the "scale" symbol, who received 31.76 per cent.
The Election Commission (EC) released the party-wise vote share on Sunday.
The party-wise voting data is considered vital for the formation of the upper house of Parliament.
Once Parliament begins functioning after all legal procedures are completed, the newly elected members will determine the way forward for establishing the upper house.
A total of 290 BNP candidates and 227 Jamaat-e-Islami candidates contested the election, with both parties leading separate electoral alliances.
Out of 60 registered political parties, 50 participated in the polls across 299 constituencies.
Besides the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, other political parties secured smaller shares of the total votes.
Independent candidates received 5.79 per cent of the votes, while the National Citizen Party (NCP) secured 3.05 per cent, Islami Andolan Bangladesh 2.70 per cent, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish 2.09 per cent, Jatiya Party 0.89 per cent, Khelafat Majlish 0.76 per cent, Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh 0.47 per cent, and Bangladesh Islami Front 0.45 per cent.
The EC has already published the gazette of election results for 297 constituencies.
Results for Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 constituencies will be announced after the relevant court cases are resolved.
According to EC data, voter turnout stood at 59.44 per cent in the 297 constituencies where results have been published.
Meanwhile, 60.26 per cent of voters cast ballots in the referendum held across all 299 constituencies.
