CA invites BNP for talks again tomorrow

Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus has invited BNP for talks again on June 2.

BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said this in a discussion in the capital on Saturday, reports BSS.

"The government is continuing the formalities of talks with political parties one after another, but there is no real progress," he said.

"Discussions are taking place, but nothing is being done. Real steps are needed to overcome the crisis of public trust, not just formalities," he added.

"It seems that if the Constitutional Reform Commission wants to change the constitution in its own way, the nation will have to agree on it," Salahuddin said, noting "If you forcefully impose anything, that is not democracy, it will be another Baksal."

"We believe in a democratic state, there will be differences of opinion. And there is no argument in favour of holding elections after December. The people of the country want elections under a neutral government immediately," the BNP leader said.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus left Tokyo on Saturday morning for home, wrapping up his four-day packed official tour to Japan.

"A flight of Singapore Airlines carrying the Chief Adviser and entourage departed Narita International Airport for Dhaka via Singapore at about 11:20 am (Tokyo time)," Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder told the news agency.

Azad said Prof Yunus was expected to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:40pm.

He said during his visit to Tokyo, the Chief Adviser joined around 20 engagements including a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba.

On the third day of his tour on Friday, Chief Adviser Prof Yunus held a bilateral meeting with Japanese premier Ishiba.
