Newly appointed Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said he will try his level best to discharge his duty as Chief Justice maintaining coordination among three pillars of the State-legislative, executive and judiciary, reports UNB.

"Only a proper coordination among the three pillars of the State-legislative, executive and judiciary - can spur development in the country. In absence of the coordination, there may be disruption in development. So, I'll try my level best to perform my duty in coordination of the three pillars," said the Chief Justice.

He came up with the remarks while addressing a reception accorded by the Attorney General's office and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) during his first day of office.

On Saturday, he was sworn in at Bangabhaban as the Chief Justice of Bangladesh. President Abdul Hamid administered the oath. Mahmud Hossain, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, was appointed Chief Justice barely three months after Surendra Kumar Sinha resigned from the post on November 10 last year.
