Covid-19 takes 31 more lives

Bangladesh reported 31 deaths from Covid-19 and 1,213 new cases in the past 24 hours until 8:00 am on Friday.

With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities reached 27,368 since the detection of the virus here in March 2020, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 27,141 samples, including antigen-based rapid ones, were tested while 27,557 samples collected during the period in question.

However, the Covid test positivity rate slightly inched down to 4.54 per cent from Thursday's 4.61 per cent.

On the other hand, 1,413 cases recovered from the disease in the country during the same period, said the DGHS in its press release.

The rate of recovery was 97.40 per cent on the day.

On the other hand, the rate of fatality from the coronavirus disease remained static at 1.77 per cent.

According to the official data, the total Covid-19 caseload almost touched 1.55 million in Bangladesh on Friday and nearly 1.51 million of them have recovered.

Meanwhile, an estimated 9.58-million samples have been tested until Sunday since March 2020.
