Hours after the exchange of greetings with his BCL rival Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, DUCSU VP-elect Nurul Haq Nur on Tuesday evening demanded reelection to all the posts of DUCSU, including that of VP, citing irregularities during Monday's polls, reports UNB.

He also demanded resignation of the incumbent officials involved in DUCSU election and holding of the reelection under the supervision of new officials.

Talking to journalists around 6:45pm at TSC, Nur came up with the fresh demand after consultation with other members of his panel and leaders of left student organisations.

Earlier in the afternoon, tension on the Dhaka University campus apparently eased as Chhatra League, led by its defeated president, greeted Nurul Haq Nur.

Showing a positive gesture, Nur announced to withdraw their class-boycott programme.

Nur and leaders of different student organisations held a meeting at the auditorium of TSC around 2:30pm after Nur was assaulted allegedly by some activists of BCL on the campus.

Around 4.00pm, BCL president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon, who was defeated by Nur in Monday's DUCSU polls went to the TSC auditorium along with his supporters and talked to Nur.

Shovon embraced Nur amid the presence of leaders and activists of other student organisations while Nur said they backed off from their decision of boycotting classes.

"But we'll continue our demand for reelection. We'll work together accepting the verdict of students to protect their interests."

Later in a brief address, Shovon said, "Win and loss is natural in election. Since Nur was elected as the representative of students, so we would work with him. I would request my fellows not to create any chaos."

Quota reform movement leader Nurul Haq Nur was elected vice-president (VP) of the DUCSU while BCL general secretary Golam Rabbani its general secretary. Eight among nine secretary posts went to candidates from BCL panel.
