NARAYANGANJ, Sept 23 (UNB): Monirul Islam, the chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has said explosives recovered from the 'militant den' in the Tokkar Maath area of Fatullah resembled those used during recent attacks in the city.

Besides, university teacher Fariduddin Rumi and his brother Jamal Uddin, who were arrested from the hideout during the drive, are members of Neo JMB, he said while addressing a press briefing in front of the 'militant den' on Monday afternoon.

Rumi, a teacher of Mechanical and Production Engineering at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, had link with the major attacks that took place in Dhaka targeting police, Monirul said.

CTTC Assistant Commissioner Touhidul Islam said there was a laboratory inside the house where some improvised explosive devices were also found.

Earlier, police and detectives cordoned off the house of Joynal Abedin, former DGM of Bangladesh Bank, in the Tokkar Math area of Fatullah in the early hours of Monday suspecting it to be a militant den.
