Fatalities, infection rise again

Both the infection rate and fatalities from Covid-19 increased again in Bangladesh on Sunday.
Twenty one more people died of the coronavirus disease on the day compared to the previous day's tally of 14, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest figure, the number of total fatalities reached 6,194, said a press release.
The number of people diagnosed with the Covid-19 rose to 1,837 during the last 24-hour reporting time on Sunday compared to that of 1,531 on the previous day.
The rate of Covid-19 infection was recorded at 13.07 per cent on the day against the previous day's rate of 12.98 per cent.
A total of 14,060 samples were tested during the last 24-hour reporting time until Sunday morning. Some 14,003 samples were collected during the period from across the county.
However, the rate of fatalities from the disease remained almost static at 1.43 per cent while the rate of recovery was recorded at 80.85 per cent on Sunday.
A total of 1,693 people recovered from the Covid-19 during the last 24-hour reporting time.
According to the official data, a total of 432,333 people have so far been infected and 349,542 of them recovered from the deadly disease.
