Jatiya Party's (JP) central office in the capital's Kakrail area was vandalized and torched again on Friday evening.
The JP blamed Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP) for the attacks.
Leaders and activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad vandalised and set fire to the Jatiya Party's central office after wrapping up a rally, leaving much of the five-storey building in flames, according to an agency report.
The rally was held at the Shahbagh intersection on Friday afternoon. Around 6:45 pm, after the program ended, the demonstrators marched to the Jatiya Party office.
Secretary-General of Jatiya Party, Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, visited the party office at around 8:20 pm.
He mentioned that their office had come under attack four times in recent days and demanded that the government impose a ban on GOP.
He also stated that they would take legal measures.
A large contingent of police personnel was deployed around the party office until the report was filed at around 9:30 pm.
A report by bdnews24.co adds: Rifat, one of those who took part in the attack, told the news agency, "The Jatiya Party must be banned. They attacked our leader Nur. We will not allow the Jatiya Party to exist."
Mahmud Alam, the office secretary of the Jatiya Party, told bdnews24.com, "Gono Odhikar Parishad activists came directly from Shahbagh, declared their intent, and torched our office. They burned everything - the library, prayer room, and even the chairman's office." "They are 'mob terrorists' trying to ban the Jatiya Party by force."
Masud Alam, the deputy commissioner of police, Ramna Division, told bdnews24.com, "They came and set the fire. Police have dispersed them and doused the flames with water cannons. The situation is under control now."
