Panic gripped regions in Azad Kashmir after moderate flooding was reported on Saturday according to reports by India based news portals.

Pakistan has claimed that India deliberately released water from the Uri dam into the Jhelum River without prior warning, causing a sudden surge in water levels near Muzaffarabad.

The incident, reported by Dunya News, has sparked outrage in Pakistan, with authorities labeling it a "complete violation of international rules and water agreements.

The surge reportedly prompted the local administration in Hattian Bala, located roughly 40 kilometers from Muzaffarabad along the Jhelum River, to declare a water emergency, per India Today.

Announcements blaring from mosques urged residents to evacuate riverbank areas, triggering widespread panic among communities fearing floods.

According to the report, the water originated in Kashmir's Anantnag district and flowed through the Chakothi area of PoK, catching local authorities off guard.
