Mahmodul Hoque, senior sub-editor of The Financial Express, passed away at his residence in the capital's Shanir Akhra area on Monday.
He had been battling prolonged illness, including complications related to diabetes, heart, kidneys, and lung conditions.
Mahmodul Hoque had served at The Financial Express for nearly 25 years until his demise.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives.
The Financial Express Journalists Association (FEJU) and all the staff members of The Financial Express expressed deep sorrow at his passing.
His first namaj-e-janaza was set to be held soon after Monday midnight.
Another janaza will be held at 10:00am today at his village home in Sherpur.
