BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's physical condition is stable.
He said she (Begum Zia) is being treated under close observation of the doctors. Mirza Fakhrul shared this information with the media on Monday.
Fakhrul said, "Madam's condition is stable.
Doctors are treating her under close monitoring. Some media outlets are spreading wrong information about her. Please do not get confused."
He also urged party leaders, activists and the people of the country to pray for her quick recovery.
Meanwhile, BNP vice chairman Azam Khan told the media that her condition is still critical. "We have nothing to say except asking for prayers from the whole nation," he said.
Azam Khan also said that doctors from the United States and the United Kingdom have been involved in her treatment. Now doctors from China have joined as well. "Everyone is trying tirelessly. The rest is in God's hands," he said.
Begum Khaleda Zia has been in the hospital for a week. She is suffering from liver complications, reduced kidney function, breathing problems, and several other medical issues at the same time.
Meanwhile, a five-member foreign medical team has arrived at Evercare Hospital to assist in her treatment. The team entered the main building at 2:50 pm on Monday.
They will hold a meeting with the local and foreign specialists already supervising her treatment. Most of the members of this team are doctors from China.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed concerns over the deteriorating health of former Bangladesh PM Khaleda Zia and prayed for her speedy recovery, accorduing to a report published in India-based web portal.
In a post on micro-blogging website X (which was previously called Twitter), Modi said India is ready to provide all the necessary assistance to Bangladesh.
"Deeply concerned to learn about the health of Begum Khaleda Zia, who has contributed to Bangladesh's public life for many years," PM Modi said. "Our sincere prayers and best wishes for her speedy recovery. India stands ready to extend all possible support, in whatever way we can."
