Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus says the interim government's second phase will begin with a clear focus on holding a well-organised national election.
On Thursday, Yunus said that judicial processes and reforms would continue their course during the second chapter, reports bdnews24.com.
His remarks were conveyed by Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam after a meeting of the Advisory Council at the Secretariat.
"In his opening speech, the chief advisor said Aug 5 marked the end of our first phase. From today, the second phase begins, and its main task is to conduct the election properly.
Judicial processes and reforms will of course continue," Alam said.
The press secretary also outlined progress in cases tied to alleged crimes under the previous Awami League government, noting that four cases have already gone to trial while 27 are under investigation, and chargesheets have been submitted in 16 others.
The Advisory Council congratulated Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin for advancing tariff negotiations with the United States and praised Cultural Affairs Advisor Mostofa Sarwar Farooki for overseeing 36 days of state cultural events in July.
The meeting also reviewed the government's performance over the past year.
