Dhaka experienced a drop in temperature on Sunday as a mild cold wave affected some parts of the country, according to the Met office.
It warned that thick fog may temporarily disrupt air travel, inland river transport, and road communication.
With temperatures falling, people flocked to roadside stalls and shopping malls over the weekend to buy warm clothing. The cold has also led to an increase in cold-related illnesses, particularly among the elderly and children.
The country's lowest temperature was recorded at 9.8°C in Nikli, while other regions also experienced mild cold conditions. The weather is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies. Moderate to thick fog may occur in some areas from midnight to noon over the next 24 hours.
Night and day temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged, and cold feelings may persist due to foggy conditions.
According to the meteorological office, a mild cold wave is defined as a temperature drop between 8.1°C and 10.0°C, moderate between 6.1°C and 8.0°C, severe between 4.1°C and 6.0°C, and very severe below 4.0°C.
