More murder cases have been filed with different police stations across the country against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her cabinet members and police officials for killing protesters of the quota reform movement.
A case was filed against Sheikh Hasina and 33 others on charge of conducting a mass killing in a rally of Hefazat-e-Islam at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel of the capital 11 years ago.
Mohammad Babul Sardar Chakhari, chairman of Bangladesh People's Party, filed the case on Sunday with the Court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zaki Al Farabi.
Upon hearing, the magistrate recorded the statement of the complainant and asked the officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station to submit a report after conducting a probe into the case.
The other accused are- former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Security Advisor to the PM Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Salman F Rahman, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu , Jahangir Kabir Nanak, former IGP Benazir Ahmed, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, former IGP Hasan Mahmud Khandaker, former IGP AKM Sahidul Haque, former chief of SB Monirul Islam, Joint Commissioner of DMP Biplob Kumar, former OC of Motijheel Police Station Omar Faruq and others.
Another murder case was filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and 11 others on charge of killing two students of Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Supreme Court lawyer Nasreen Begum filed the case on Sunday with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Tariqul Islam.
Upon hearing, the magistrate recorded the statement of the complainant and asked the officer-in-charge of Sutrapur Police Station to accept the statement as an FIR.
The other accused in the case are- Obaidul Quader, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasan Mahmud, Mubibul Hasan Chowdhury, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, and others.
According to the case statement, students of the colleges participated in the programmes called by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19.
However, members of the Awami League's associate bodies Jubo League and Chhatra League, equipped with fire arms, swooped on the students' rally.
At that time two students, Ikram Hossain of the Economics Department of Kabi Nazrul College and Omar Faruk of Shaheed Suhrawardy College, were shot at.
They duo were finally declared dead when they were taken to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital respectively.
Sources said five more murder cases were filed on Sunday against Sheikh Hasina and others in Rangpur, Narayanganj, Natore and Joypurhat.
Apart from these, another case was filed with the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court for killing Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University.
Former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and 16 others have been made accused in the case.
