BB asks banks to help dengue patients under CSR funds

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Wednesday asked the scheduled banks to assist the patients suffering from dengue fever under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. "Dengue fever has taken a severe turn in Dhaka city and other areas of the country. So, it is essential to help the poor patients after holding discussions with hospitals and health complexes in the areas of the respective branches of banks," said a BB circular. The central bank requested the banks to extend their helping hands by giving medicine, saline and mosquito net. — BSS

Ferry delay: HC orders probe into schoolboy's death

The High Court has ordered a probe into the death of a schoolboy in an ambulance in midriver after a ferry was delayed at a jetty in Madaripur for three hours for a joint secretary. Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader issued the order along with a rule on Wednesday after hearing a petition filed by Legal Support and People's Rights Chairman Md Zahir Uddin Limon.
