Cops seize 700 gold bars from two vehicles in Ctg

Police seized 700 gold bars during the searches of two vehicles in Chattogram city and Mirsarai. The first car was stopped at an intersection in the port city on Sunday and the second was stopped in Mirsarai's Shonapahar area a few hours later. The first vehicle was carrying 100 gold bars weighing 11.66kg. The second one had 600 bars. Police arrested four people in connection with the two incidents. — bdnews24.com

HC jails RAJUK official in graft case

The High Court (HC) sentenced on Sunday a staff of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) to 11-year imprisonment in a graft case lodged over destroying or hiding 57 official files. A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order, accepting an appeal of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against a lower court judgement that had acquitted RAJUK steno clerk Md Shafiullah from the charges. — BSS
