High-speed internet in remote areas by this year

The government will provide high-speed internet in all remote areas of the country by this year, said Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar Wednesday. "Through satellite connectivity, high-speed internet will be provided to 226 remote unions where cable connections can't be reached," the telecomm minister said. Jabbar said there are nearly 772 unions in the country including 111 enclaves where there is no internet connectivity at present and four projects have been initiated in this regard. — UNB

MS rod price to fall by Tk 1,000 per tonne

Owners of the Steel and Re-rolling Industries Wednesday announced that they would cut Tk 1,000 per tonne from the existing price of the MS rod. The industries owners came up with the announcement at a meeting with Industries Secretary Muhammad Abdullah at his office, an official release said. — BSS
