Maitree Express on sell-out trip on first day

On the first day of introducing new services of Dhaka-Kolkata Maitree train, tickets for all 456 seats were sold out, said railway authorities. The end-to-end Immigration and Customs services for the Maitree Express train were launched on Friday. Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque visited Dhaka Cantonment Railway Station on Friday morning to see the new services. The newly-introduced services will cut travel time, the Railways Minister said. The Maitre Express runs on Dhaka-Kolkata route six days a week. -UNB

Miscreants hack to death two siblings

FARDIPPUR, Nov 10: Two siblings were hacked to death by miscreants in Swashan Ghat near Alfadanga Bazar on Thursday night. Police said the miscreants, equipped with sharp weapons, attacked Idris Mollah, 48, and Lavlu Mollah, 42, sons of late Zahur Mollah of Magura village in Boalmari upazila, leaving them critically injured. They were taken to Alfadanga Health Complex and then shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where they died on Friday morning..-UNB

More Rohingyas cross Naf river on rafts, boats

Around 550 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar have crossed the Naf river into Bangladesh on rafts made of logs, bamboos and plastic jerrycans in a fresh influx. Border Guard Bangladesh Teknaf-2 Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Ariful Islam said the Rohingyas arrived in Cox's Bazar through Shah Porir Dwip point of the river on Friday evening. Earlier in the morning, around 130 arrived on boats, he said. Friday's arrivals have taken the number of Rohingyas crossing the Naf river in three days to more than 900. — bdnews24.com
