PM cuts short S’pore visit, returns home

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Tuesday cutting short her official visit to Singapore by a day following Monday's US-Bangla Airlines plane crash in Nepal. A regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the premier and members of her entourage landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 6.15 pm. The Prime Minister went to Singapore on Sunday on a four-day official visit at an invitation of her Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong. — BSS

Bank manager gets seven years in jail

CHITTAGONG, Mach 13 (BSS): Chittagong Special Divisional court in a verdict here today awarded a bank manager seven years of rigorous imprisonment for misappropriating over Tk 0.99 million. Judge Mir Ruhul Amin delivered the verdict convicting Wahidur Rahman Chowdhury former manager of Rupali Bank, Abutorub Bazar Branch under Mirsarai upazila of the district, court sources said.
