284 from 36th BCS exam to fill non-cadre posts

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) recommended on Thursday recruitment of 284 candidates from the 36th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination with the status of class one non-cadre officials. The recommendation was made as per the amended Non-cadre Posts Recruitment Rules 2014, said a PSC handout. The PSC also published the registration numbers of the selected candidates for the posts on its website. Of them, 102 were selected as social service officers, while 25 as assistant engineers, and upazila engineers. The results are available on the PSC website www.bpsc.gov.bd. — UNB

Cargo vessel sinks in Rupsha

KHULNA, Mar 15: A cargo vessel carrying 1,035 tonnes of clinker sank in the middle of the Rupsha River here on Thursday afternoon. Officer-in-charge of Rupsha Police Station Rafiqul Islam said water started leaking into the cargo vessel - MV-BB 134 in the middle of the river when a crack developed at its bottom around 2:30 pm. — UNB

BD-Saudi body talks domestic help issue

The joint technical committee of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia discussed on Thursday various problems being faced by Bangladeshi domestic helps working in the Arab country. It discussed the issue on the last day of a two-day meeting held in Riyadh, according to a despatch received from Saudi Arabia. — UNB
