Shab-e-Barat on May 01

The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed in the country on May 1 as the Shaban moon was sighted in the Bangladesh sky on Tuesday. The National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting held at the Islamic Foundation office at Baitul Mukarram in the evening. Director General of Islamic Foundation and member secretary of the National Moon Sighting Committee Shamim Mohammad Afzal chaired the meeting. — UNB

Yet another loses arm as truck hits bus

A man has lost his right arm when a truck hit a passenger bus sideways in Gopalganj in an incident that has gruesome similarities to the case in which student Rajib Hossain lost his right arm early this month and died finally. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Hridoy Minar, who worked as a bus helper of the same company. But he was travelling as a passenger when the disaster struck on Dhaka-Khulna Highway near Bedgram at Sadar Upazila on Tuesday. — bdnews24.com
