DU Kha unit admission test today

The first year admission test of Dhaka University (DU) for the 2019-20 academic sessions under "Kha" unit will be held today. A total of 45,018 students will vie for 2,378 seats in the DU entrance test which will be held on Saturday from 10am to 11.30am at 72 exam centers. No electronic devices will be allowed in the exam halls. Seat plans willbe available on the university website www. admission.eis.du.ac.bd. — BSS

Govt to develop zone free from animal disease

The government has taken an initiative to develop a zoonosis and cross-border animal disease-free zone in the country to boost the production of animal protein foods like milk, eggs and meat by around 35 per cent through the innovation of agro-ecological zone-based animal diseases control model. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved a project to this end titled "Zoonosis and cross-border animal diseases prevention and control research" in its last meeting with an estimated cost of Tk 1.50 billion. Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will implement the project by June 2024 with entire government fund. — BSS

Police recover three bodies floating on river water

Police have found three bodies floating on water of the Baral River in Rajshahi. The bodies were spotted in the Sluice Gate area of Charghat Upazila on Friday morning, said Samit Kumar Kundu, chief of the local police station. The bodies were found amid water hyacinth, said the OC. The bodies could not be properly identified as they decomposed, he said. It was not immediately clear whether the bodies came from the upstream river or were dumped there after killing, he said.
