Textile exporters now to get cash incentives up to 12pc

Exporters of the textile sector can get up to 12 per cent cash incentives instead of earlier 10 per cent. According to a Bangladesh Bank (BB) circular, "In case of multiple benefits for the textile exporters cash incentives will be applicable to each benefit at the fixed rate." Out of the four cash incentives, Deputy Director of the BB Foreign Exchange Policy Department M Arafat Ali said, an exporter of the textile sector can get up to three types of cash incentives. — BSS

Probe body to examine papers of Suprovat, Jabal-e-Noor

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) formed a five-member probe committee for checking papers of 'Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan' and 'Suprovat Paribahan'. BRTA deputy director (engineering) Shofiquzzaman Bhuiyan said the committee headed by BRTA director Sirajul Islam (training) has been asked to submit report within three working days.— UNB

At least 72 die as ferry sinks in Iraq's Tigris river

MOSUL, Mar 21: At least 72 people died when an overloaded ferry sank in the Tigris river near Mosul in Iraq, police and medical sources said on Thursday. Most of the casualties on the ferry were women and children who could not swim, said the head of Mosul's Civil Defence Authority, Husam Khalil. — Agencies
