Bodies of mother, daughter in city

A mother and her baby girl were found dead in a house at Ahmedbag under Sabujbag in the capital. The woman was identified as Shantona Akter (25) and her daughter Mahfuza, around one year old, officer in-charge (OC) of Sabujbag Thana Md Kuddus Faqir told The FE. "Shantona's body was hanging from a ceiling fan, and her daughter was also found dead in their bed," he said. Shantona's husband Mamun works for an internet service provider. "Mamun fled with his sister-in-law a couple of days ago, which might have a link to the incident," said Mr Faqir. — FE Report

British firm may secure deal for extra 5.0m MRPs

The Ministry of Home Affairs is likely to extend the current deal with British firm De La Rue for extra 5.0 million machine-readable passport (MRP) booklets and 5.5 million laminating foils at a cost of $11.49 million. According to official sources, the Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) under the Ministry of Home Affairs has moved a proposal to the Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase in this regard. — UNB
