11th JS’s maiden session from today

The maiden session of the 11th parliament begins today (Wednesday), within 31 days of the national election held on December 30. President Abdul Hamid convened the session on January 09 exercising his power bestowed upon him by Article 72 (1) of the Constitution. — UNB

Four die as truck plunges into ditch

SAVAR, Jan 29: Three brick kiln workers and a truck driver were killed as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch in the Ashulia Boro Bridge area near Bypail-Abdullahpur highway early Tuesday. The deceased were identified as workers Arif Miah, Shahin, truck driver Mujahud and brickfield guard Abdul Kader, 50. — UNB

LG, Samsung to start production in BD soon

The South Korean electronics giant LG, Samsung will soon start manufacture of electronic goods in Bangladesh which will reduce trade gap between Dhaka and Seoul. This was revealed Tuesday by South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Hu Kang-il when he called on Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen at Foreign Affairs Ministry. — BSS
